Liposuction is a great way to instantly remove fat in areas resistant to diet and exercise. Popular areas of treatment include the abdomen (belly), flanks (love handles), thighs (saddlebags), and arms (bat wings). Liposuction also works extremely well on the neck, underarm/bra area, male chest, and any other area with excess tissue. During the procedure, a small cannula (hollow tube) is inserted under the skin to remove fat under vacuum suction. When this fat is removed, it can be transferred into areas needing more volume such as reconstructed breasts, aging faces, or previous scars if needed.
Incisions for the cannulas are only a few millimeters long and hidden in natural creases, such as the belly button, or under areas of clothing where they cannot be seen. If you have had prior surgery, the liposuction incision can be placed in previous incision sites.
Anesthesia is sedation or general and patients can go home the same day.
Recovery is variable but most patients can expect routine activity by 2 weeks and full strenuous activity by 4 weeks. A binder or compression garment may be worn during this time to reduce swelling.
Results are immediate and continue to improve over several weeks as swelling decreases and your skin tightens. Once
